Dear Students and Families,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at St. Matthews K-8 School! I hope you have enjoyed a restful and enjoyable summer and are ready to begin a new year filled with learning, growth, and success. On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, I am thrilled to welcome both our returning families and those who are joining our SMK8 family for the first time.

As your principal, I am honored to serve such an outstanding school community. My name is Eric L. Brown, and I am committed to ensuring that every student receives a high-quality educational experience in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Throughout my career in education, I have been passionate about helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe that strong relationships among students, families, teachers, and staff are the foundation of a successful school, and I look forward to partnering with you throughout the year.

This year's theme, "It's Our Time to Shine," reflects the tremendous potential that exists within every student, teacher, staff member, and family at St. Matthews K-8 School. Over the past few years, we have celebrated many accomplishments and witnessed remarkable growth across our school community. From academic achievements and student leadership opportunities to extracurricular activities, fine arts, athletics, and community partnerships, there are countless reasons to be proud of all the wonderful things happening at SMK8.

While we celebrate our successes, we also recognize that excellence is a journey, not a destination. We cannot stop where we are. We must continue to learn, grow, and improve every day. Our commitment this year is to build upon our strengths, embrace new opportunities, and remain focused on what is in the best interest of our students. Every decision we make will be guided by a simple question: How does this help our students succeed?

At SMK8, we believe every student has the ability to shine. Whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, on the stage, through service to others, or by demonstrating kindness and character each day, every student has unique gifts and talents that deserve to be recognized and nurtured. We will continue to challenge our students to aim higher, work harder, and believe in themselves as they pursue their goals.

Families, your partnership is essential to our success. Together, we can create a learning environment where students feel supported, valued, and inspired to achieve their fullest potential. I encourage you to stay engaged, communicate with your child's teachers, attend school events, and celebrate the successes we will achieve together throughout the year.
